The SUKMA Para Games will be specially organized for athletes with Disabilities (OKU) athletes according to their respective categories after the end of the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in the states involved. Initially, this event was known as the Malaysian Paralympic Games before being changed to Para SUKMA in 2018.

Participation in this Games will involve all 14 states and will be regulated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council. The Games will also be organized in collaboration with the Malaysian Paralympic Council with the host states involved.

The organization of the Johor 2020 SUKMA Para Games scheduled for 16 - 22 August 2020 has been postponed to 5 - 10 April 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
